We give you the skills to build web applications from the ground up, starting with HTML and CSS, followed by a deep dive into Ruby on Rails.
Bring your ideas to class and we’ll help you bring them to life. By the end of 9 weeks you’ll be able to build web apps like Twitter on your own.
It won’t be easy, but it will be a lot of fun! Be prepared to work incredibly hard (40+ hours per week) — our expectations are high and yours should be too.
Ruby on Rails is the agile web framework used to create some of the world’s top web services and the primary framework you’ll learn at Bitmaker Labs. It’s so friendly to use that companies can be built and launched in a weekend.
We’re a group of professional web developers and entrepreneurs who are passionate about helping others. Throughout our careers, we have been lucky enough to have the support of some amazing people and now we’re paying it forward.
Learn the open-source web framework that’s optimized for programmer happiness and sustainable productivity.
Structure and beauty go hand in hand. Learn how to organize online content and make it resonate with your users.
Modern applications need to do more than exist statically — they need to interact with your audience in order to captivate them.
Learn to use testing to shape the development of your code instead of using it to figure out what made it break.
Create applications quickly and pivot painlessly so your product stays better than the competition.
Collaborate on code with other programmers and keep code versions separate while being able to easily undo mistakes.
You’ll learn what SASS, HAML and AJAX stand for and how to use them, in addition to advanced frameworks including AngularJS.
We’ll teach you the things that can't be boiled down to an acronym like how to interview, present, give feedback and more.
By the time 9 weeks is up you'll be comfortable picking apart API documentation, reading source code, and teaching yourself new languages and frameworks.
We’ve assembled a roster of hiring partners who are eager to offer web development apprenticeships, which lead to full-time positions as junior developers. By the end of our program you’ll have over 600 hours of experience and a portfolio of work you can share with our hiring partners; think of it as the most comfortable job interview you’ll ever have.

It takes a great deal of practice and hard work, but you can build the foundation required to be a world-class developer in 9 weeks. We use a combination of lectures, classwork, one-on-one mentoring, group exercises, pair programming, and hackathons to fully immerse you in the material. And by the end of the program you will have spent hundreds of hours learning, practicing, and creating.
Applications are currently being accepted for the Summer 2013 cohort beginning June 3, 2013, which runs a total of 9 weeks in length. The program is competitive but we encourage everyone to apply. We’ve designed it specifically for beginners, no programming experience is required.
Tuition details are listed on our application form.
